Form I-94

The I-94 is the arrival/departure record showing a nonimmigrant's status and the date their authorized stay ends.

What Form I-94 means

CBP creates it electronically at entry. The I-94 end date, not the visa stamp, controls how long someone may stay.

  • Change of StatusA change of status switches someone from one nonimmigrant category to another while they remain in the U.S., such as F-1 to H-1B.
